In that time Penny has been at the centre of all the major news events and stories and has built a reputation as a formidable interviewer. Her work has been recognized by a prestigious Royal Television Society award.

Penny began her career in independent radio before moving to anchor the main drive-time news programme on BBC Radio Wales. She also worked as the country's network correspondent and has been a regular reporter on Radio 4's Today programme. A move to television followed and for five years Penny anchored Wales Today, before being appointed the programme's Chief Reporter.
